WHY LAW?

From the days of orgin of society, law plays a major role in every sphere of life. Be it the political and administration, Law and order, trade and business, nothing survives without law.In todays shrinking world of expanding sector, with IPR, environment, humanitarian, cyber law, etc, apart from the traditional areas of law,the avenues for a law graduate to prosper in his career are wide open like an ocean. One can sail over to any part of it.

The expression everything under the sun is apt while referring to law. Literally anything u do is covered by law. With such a subject at the offering, it is once own choice to swim and sail in the ocean or to sit on the shores and just watch and admire it. Not only as a lawyer, but into the public service and into the corporate world also the career of the law graduate is demanding.

WHY LAW FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAM?

With more than a couple of lakh candidates compete for this coveted services,it is rightly said as the test of all test.

It is an open field, where people from any walk of life enter this arena.if u want to see any exam where a lawyer, doctor, scientist, engineer, linguist, economist all compete each other, then this is the one. Every candidate approach this exam with a strength of his/her own background. Students of art background take the art subjects as their optional and students of science and engineering background takeup science related subjects. Likewise students of law should never forget that they have their own strength that is in law.

Law is a high scoring optional and can be better than any other optional of humanities. With this exam

pattern of two optional subjects very rarely one masters in two different subjects before entering the field of civil services.Mostly majority have one optional as their strong hole and the other as a safe optional.

An analysis of previous results show that scoring very high in one of the optional subject gives a greater chance of making it to this service. Law stands this statement. Not only a high scoing optional by itself, Law covers the considerable proportion of the Genral Studies syllabus directly.

aw widens the understanding and helps to develop an insight of the current national, international and socio- politcal issues like UNO, Judicial activism, Center state relations, Reservations, Womens rights, etc. which covers a significant portions of questions asked in general studies [GS], essay paper and in interview.

Therefore student having better understanding of law as an edge over others in easily answering these topics and score very high. What more can one get from an optional?

HOW TO APPROACH MAINS?

No one is expected to do a research over a question in the examination hall. The answer do already exist even before a question was born. No answer is prepared. Infact, only the questions were prepared on the existing answers.

Therefore, the students are expected to just understand the question as to why the question was prepared in such a way. Once you understand why question was prepared and in what context you can answer it easily.Therafter all you need to do is to write an answer using simple language, sequencing and prioritizing your points, most importantly sticking to ur points.

Alloting a proportionate time for brainstorming each answer would avoid haziness.
